There is a Literacy Crisis - We Can Help
We have a national literacy crisis - 70% of children do not read at grade-level by the critical milestone of third grade. Children learn to read until 3rd grade – and then after, must read to learn.
Learning to speak is a natural process, but the human brain is not hard-wired to read. The 2000 National Reading Panel found that students need structured, explicit literacy instruction that addresses the five pillars of reading: phonemic awareness, phonics, fluency, vocabulary development, and comprehension. This body of research is called the “Science of Reading”. For too long, our country has not provided this effective instruction for children.
The good news is scientists say that with the appropriate instruction, 95% of children have the ability to read at grade-level. At Clever Noodle, we partner with national literacy experts to create powerful tools for children, parents, and educators to help students of all abilities. All of our games are based on the Science of Reading - and super fun so children are engaged and effectively learning on their journey to becoming confident, fluent readers!

Necessity is the Mother of Invention
Clever Noodle was created when our founder's son, Madden, was struggling with reading during the COVID-19 pandemic. When nothing was working, Jacquelyn - a former teacher and school leader - grabbed her glue gun and cardboard boxes and started making reading games. Madden had so much fun, he didn’t even realize he was learning.
The really fun, highly effective games, based on the Science of Reading, helped him get back on track. Madden's teacher saw the power of the games with her other students too, and encouraged Jacquelyn to fill the need.
Now, Clever Noodle is bringing really fun, highly effective learn-to-read games to thousands of kids across the country.
